Arthur River is a tiny fishing village toward the northern end of the west coast of Tasmania, situated on the mouth of a river bearing the same name. The Arthur and nearby Frankland Rivers offer good trout, salmon and blackfish fishing. River cruises are also available.

Extending south of Arthur River to Corinna is the Arthur Pieman Protected Area, a 96,950 ha. wilderness park with extensive beaches and violent surf.

Much of the Arthur River area is inaccessible by car. However, the South Arthur forest drive, from Kanunnah Bridge to Tayatea Bridge, has several short walks and picnic areas. These include a Celery Top pine nature trail, the Balfour Track rainforest walk, Kanunnah Bridge picnic area, and the Julius River & Lake Chisolm Forest Reserves.

Arthur River has one 3½-star holiday unit (RACT rated).
