Hamilton (pop ~150) is a small but beautiful town in Tasmania's Derwent Valley on the Clyde River. Many of the buildings are historic.
Glen Clyde House (1840) was originally an inn where those on journeys through the valley could stop to change horses. It is now one of the largest craft shops and galleries, selling everything from pottery to woodwork, pewter, gold and silver products. The Hamilton Sheep Centre has sheep shearing demonstrations. Also in the area is Old McDonalds Farm, a children's adventure farm with a pleasant walk. Meadowbank Lake is a popular water skiing and fishing venue. Close by is Meadowbank Vineyard. Hamilton has three 4-star and one 3½-star accommodation facilities (RACT rated).
